Georges PREVELAKIS

Georges PREVELAKIS, Professor at the University Paris I-Panthéon-Sorbonne, is President of SDMed Scientific/Academic Council.

Georges Prevelakis studied Architecture at the Athens Technical University and Geography and Planning at the Sorbonne.Between 1978 and 1984, he served as an Urban Planner at the Greek Ministry of Physical Planning and taught at the TechnicalUniversity and at Panteion University in Athens. In France since 1984, he has taught at the Sorbonne and at Sciences Po in Paris. His courses cover a large field, ranging from Greek Physical Planning to the Geopolitics of Europe through the History of Modern Architecture and Urban Planning, the Theory of Political and Cultural Geography and Balkan Geopolitics. He has also taught in the USA: at the Johns Hopkins University, at Boston University and, during two academic years, at Tufts University where he occupied the Constantine Karamanlis Chair in Hellenic and Southeastern European Studies (2003-2005). His research focuses on Political and Cultural Geography theory, Urban Planning, Diasporas, European and Eastern Mediterranean Geopolitics. 

Prof.Prevelakis is currently Ambassador of Greece to the OECD.
