Luís Bragança is Professor at the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Minho. He is Director of the Building Physics and Construction Technology Laboratory and Director of the Master Course in Sustainable Construction and Rehabilitation. He is Ph.D., M.Sc. and Licentiate in Civil Engineering and his main areas of interest are: Sustainable Construction Development (assessment tools and building sustainable technologies), Building Acoustics and the Rational Use of Energy in Buildings. He participates actively in the national standardizing work concerning Building Thermal Performance and Building Acoustics and Sustainable Construction. He coordinates and participates in several research national and international projects. He is author and co-author of more than 150 publications, including books, chapters of books, articles in international and national journals and papers in international and national conferences. Recent publications in the field include a relevant number of studies explaining the energy efficiency, technical performance and sustainability of buildings.
Professor Luis Braganca is the Chair of the COST C25 Action on Sustainability of Constructions, Chair of the Education and Training Committee of iiSBE (International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment), Chair of iiSBE Portugal (Portuguese delegation of iiSBE), Chair of ECCS TC14 (Technical Committee on Sustainability & Eco-Efficiency of the Steel Construction of the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork), is involved in R&D and standardization (CEN/TC350 Sustainability of construction works) and is the representative of the Portuguese Construction Technology Platform in ECTP (European Construction Technology Platform).
